Surah 'Abasa (Arabic: عبس) is the 80th surah in the Qur'an. This surah is classified as Makkiyah surah which consists of 42 verses. Named 'Abasa taken from the word' Abasa contained in the first verse of this surah. According to history, at one time the Messenger of Allah S.A.W. accept and talk with the leaders of Quraysh who he hoped would they convert to Islam. In the meantime came Ibn Umm Maktum, a blind friend who hoped that Rasulullah S.A.W. read him verses from the Koran that God sent down. But Rasulullah S.A.W. surly and looking away from the blind Ibn Umm Maktum, then Allah sent down this letter as a reprimand for the attitude of the Prophet to Ibn Ummi Maktum.
