Ferguson shooting: Inside the grand jury that decided not to indict Officer Darren Wilson

The grand jury that has been hearing evidence for months from the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson, Missouri announced on Monday night that the officer who fatally shot the unarmed black teen in August would not be indicted.

Prosecutor Robert McCulloch, along with two assistant prosecutors, presented the evidence for the Ferguson shooting case.

In accordance with Missouri law, a jury of 12 was “selected at random from a fair cross-section of citizens” in St. Louis County, which is 70 percent white. Ferguson, by contrast, is as much as two-thirds black.

Officer Darren Wilson and Michael Baden, the physician who performed a private autopsy on the deceased teen, were among those who testified before the grand jury during the hearing.
