Floods continue to hamper Queensland

At least 200,000 homes are without power as flood waters continue to inundate parts of Queensland.

Three flood related deaths have been reported so far.

While rescue operations continue, authorities are urging residents to move to higher ground.

The severe weather conditions in the region have caused torrential rain, tornados and flooding.

"Whether it's bushfires, whether it's floods, we are being challenged by nature, but we are a strong and smart nation and we'll get through this, as we always do, by pulling together."

And one rather strange consequence of the bad weather is this stuff... sea foam washed ashore and gathered in drifts up to three metres high on the streets of this coastal town.

Meteorologists say the weather front causing all this damage should pass by mid week.
