Having A Coke With You - A poem by Frank O'Hara. About the poem - It is a beautifully simple poem, like most of his poetry. Instead of writing an extremely sappy love poem, O'Hara is subtle in his methods of expressing his feelings to his beloved. For instance, where he could have said "I think the way you move is graceful," he writes, "at home I never think of the Nude Descending a Staircase," which was one of the first paintings to fully embody the majesty of movement on a still canvas. O'Hara expresses his love by speaking of the little things, which are often harder to pinpoint than the vague emotions we typically claim to feel. The poem is written and read in a sort of rambling style, which adds to its overall aura of authenticity. About the poet - Francis Russell "Frank" O'Hara (March 27, 1926 – July 25, 1966) was an American writer, poet and art critic. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland in USA. He was a member of the New York School of poetry. His collected poems, the first of several posthumous collections, shared the 1972 National Book Award for Poetry.
