Caught on camera: Man robs store with a banana

A Philadelphia grocery store was robbed by an unidentified male wielding a banana on Tuesday morning.

The man entered Tejada Grocery store located in the 3800 blocks of Poplar Street after parking his bike outside. He caught sight of some bananas while waiting in line, and thought that it might be clever, to rob the store with it.

The man approached the young 24-year-old clerk while pointing the banana through his jacket at her like it was a gun. The man then allegedly demanded some cash and cigarettes.

The robber grabbed the items and left the store with the cigarette and an undetermined amount of cash.

Police continues to search for the man, who was last seen on his bike near 40th Street towards Wyalusing Avenue in a tanned hooded jacket with “Pacific Coast Hollister 19” on the front in red lettering and black pants.
