Suspect chokes elderly woman, 76, as accomplice robs her store

HONOLULU — The shocking moment a robbery suspect grabbed an elderly woman in a chokehold has been captured on camera.
Surveillance footage posted by the Honolulu Police Department to Facebook yesterday shows the man using a submission hold on the defenseless 76-year-old victim during a robbery on Monday.
While the suspect chokes the female store owner in a truly cowardly display of violence, an accomplice goes behind the counter. The accomplice helps himself to cash from the register, and the thirsty tough guy swipes a bottle of Mountain Dew before the suspects flee.
A third suspect acted as a lookout, according to police.
The victim was later found bleeding on the ground by a customer, police said in a statement posted to the department's website. She was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.
And as if that wasn't bad enough, the robbery was the second at the store within four days.
Last Friday, two masked men threatened the store's 74-year-old male owner with weapons and demanded money, according to police. The men opened the cash register before fleeing on foot.
Police have released images of the suspects and are appealing for information from the public.
