Barbie Game Girl review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Barbie Game Girl for the Game Boy developed by Imagineering, Inc. and published by Hi Tech Expressions.
For Barbie’s Game Boy debut, she proposed a fair question—why not a Game Girl? A half-remake of the NES Barbie game and half-sequel, Barbie Game Girl is a platformer with a surprisingly strange story. Barbie needs a new outfit for a date, so she goes from shopping malls to malt shops and even oceans to put together a new ensemble. Is she hallucinating or is she really a mermaid? We may never know, as Barbie sure doesn’t seem to be talking. The game features seven levels and matching minigames between them. There are also two boss battles, and needless to say, they’re also pretty strange. Barbie Game Girl is a single-player platformer.
