Be they fans of Malbec, Pinot, or Sauvignon Blanc, one thing wine aficionados can apparently see eye to eye on is that by Wednesday, it’s time for a glass – maybe even two.

Research conducted by a UK bottling company found Britons agree that by Wednesday, they’ve suffered in stone cold sobriety long enough.

Men typically uncork a beverage earlier than women, having their first drink at 6:40. Females tend to wait until just after 7.

Regardless of when people take their first sip, 76 percent of them agree that home is the best place to do it.

White and red are nearly neck and neck when it comes to preference – 36 percent for white and 37 for red.

Rose and sparkling weren’t nearly as popular, but did prove to be the go-to for some.

Dinner is often the accompaniment to the beverage; however, a solid 37 percent of mid-week consumers said that they felt the perfect pairing for their Wednesday wine was a glass.

The study involved questioning 2000 UK adults about their wine tendencies and likes.
