France has declared a state of emergency in New Caledonia and sent hundreds of police to its pacific territory after three days of rioting and unrest. The violence has left four people dead including a policeman who was reportedly shot in the head. It is the worst violence New Caledonia has seen in 40 years and it's pro-independence party is calling for calm.
