Exorcism Deaths: Father and daughter kill family members during exorcism

Two weeks ago in Shanxi, three people were murdered by their own family members.
Initially, the police thought the murders may have been cult related but upon closer inspection that was proven to not be the case.
Mr. Guo, the patriarch of the family, was extremely superstitious and often felt that he was haunted by evil spirits.
That particular evening Mr. Guo was convinced his wife was possessed by an evil spirit, so while attempting to exorcise it, he beat her to death.
Mr. Guo’s eldest daughter then believed that the spirit had moved from her mother and possessed her 4-month-old nephew. She attempted to shake the spirit from the child and shook the child so hard he died from internal brain hemorrhaging.
The daughter then believed the evil spirit had moved to possessing her younger sister, the mother of the dead baby, so the older sister beat the younger to death while attempting to perform an exorcism.
Police said one strange aspect of the crimes were that the victims did not struggle or fight back. They apparently also believed that they had been possessed and allowed themselves to be beaten to death.
The case is still being investigated, although the police have arrested the two surviving family members.
