One of the world's biggest stars is teaming up with an auction house for charity. Christie’s has partnered with the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation to present “The 11th Hour Charity Auction.”

The sale will be held on May 13th, featuring donated works of art from acclaimed artists and many of the pieces were created solely for the auction. The proceeds will benefit the Foundation’s wildlife and environmental conservation efforts.

DiCaprio states “My Foundation has worked on environmental issues since 1998, and despite the great efforts by organizations all over the world, our planet is in trouble.”

The actor was exposed to art during his childhood, thanks to his parents.

In total, 33 artworks are slated for the upcoming auction block and DiCaprio hopes to raise $15 million.

The actor’s foundation boasts many philanthropic efforts including conservation works in Nepal, which worked to protect tigers from extinction. Several other projects focused on Antarctica, sharks and rainforests.
