STORY: Protesters from Bangladesh's opposition parties took to the streets on Saturday, torching vehicles and vandalizing shops as riots broke out in various parts of the capital.

Holding black flags and shouting slogans, activists from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its alliance Jamat-e-Islami marched through Dhaka. Some set a vehicle on fire and clashed with the police, who retaliated by firing tear gas and beating protesters with batons.

Law enforcement fired gunshots and tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.
