CGRundertow SONSON for Arcade Video Game Review

Sonson review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Sonson (developed and published by Capcom) for arcades, also ported to Wii Virtual Console and as part of Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1 for PS2 and Capcom Classics Collection: Reloaded for PSP. MONKEY VERSUS ROBO... wait, Mega Man isn't in this one. Sorry. It's just Sonson, grandfather of Sonson, that monkey thing from Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, kickin' it in this 1984 arcade title that treads a fine line between "Platformer" and "SHMUP." It's a looping wonderland filled with hostiles to shoot, food to collect, bamboo shooting up in interesting places, and a big ol' Buddha at the end to teleport you back to the beginning. So THIS is what Toriyama was playing when he came up with that... erm. That thing that looks like Dragon Quest. Can't place the name. This video review features video gameplay footage of Sonson for PS2 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.
