For the first time in 23 years the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), the Enduro Team World Championship, will take place in Germany in 2012.
More than 480 riders from all over the world will ride more than 1,400 km in Central and West Saxony in six days. Germany, in particular Saxony, has a long tradition of Enduro sport. You only have to remember MZ’s huge success at the Six Days’ in the 1960s. The annual German championships “Rund um Zschopau” or “Dahlen” continue that tradition.
The International Motorcycling Federation’s (FIM) decision where to hold the International Red Bull Six Days Enduro was clearly in favour of Germany with ten votes in favour and one against. When applying for the ISDE the German Motorsport Association (Deutscher Motorsportbund, DMSB) already knew that only the ADAC Sachsen can be the host of a Six Days event in Germany.
ADAC Sachsen again hosts a championship and, at the same time, promotes the region’s economy. Approximately 300,000 visitors and participants from more than 30 countries are expected to enjoy the Red Bull Six Days and get to know our beautiful landscapes and sights here in Saxony. It is expected that the region’s hotels will be fully booked with approximately 60,000 overnight stays during 14 days. ADAC Sachsen already started to prepare the event when applying for the ISDE because thorough preparation is essential for this kind of event.
However, we are sure that the event will be a success with the help of our local clubs, partners and the authorities. ADAC Sachsen also relies on support from politicians and business people for preparing and hosting the ISDE in Saxony. Thus, we are proud that the Saxon Prime Minister is patron of the event.
