North Korea's state-run television released on Thursday (August 16) video of Pyongyang residents welcoming the returning Olympic team.

Crowds of people enthusiastically cheered the returning squad at the airport and also in the streets.

The North's official news agency KCNA said the team members were also greeted by Kim Ki-nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and Kim Yong-jin, vice-premier, Ri Yong-su, department director of the WPK Central Committee, and other officials.

North Korea collected four gold medals and two bronze medals in the London Games. Three of the gold medals were in weightlifting and the other one in judo.
