Louis Joinet, United Nations independent expert on Human Rights violation, has visited 172 prisons and detention centres all over the world :
“In arbitrary detention, what I learnt from our visits, is that […] the fact that we visit people, that the UN comes, give them courage. When you’re imprisoned, the problem is resisting.”
