Winehouse dress sells, George Michael recovering

A printed chiffon dress worn by the late singer Amy Winehouse for the cover of her chart-topping album "Back to Black" has sold for 43,200 pounds or $68,000 at auction.
The hammer price was well above pre-sale estimates of 10-20,000 pounds. Proceeds from the auction will go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. The buyer of the dress was the Museo de la Moda in Santiago, Chile.
Oscar Wilde's newly renovated tomb was unveiled on Wednesday (November 30) at the Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris where the Irish writer and playwright is buried. The new tomb, now protected by a glass barrier, was restored after the original was defaced and its facade almost worn out by stains of lipstick marks, some water-resistant, left by adoring fans. British actor Rupert Everett attended the unveiling of the new tomb, exactly 111 years to the date, after Wilde's death.
British singer George Michael's health is improving, doctors treating him in Vienna for pneumonia said in a statement Wednesday (November 30). The 48-year-old singer was hospitalized in the Austrian capital and diagnosed with severe pneumonia, forcing him to cancel the remainder of his European tour. Doctors said that Michael is steadily improving.
As the awards season kicks off, the NY Film Critics Circle has announced their picks for 2011. The black and white ode to silent movies, "The Artist" was chosen as the Best Film and earned Best Director. Brad Pitt was named Best Actor for his roles in both "Moneyball" and "The Tree of Life." And Meryl Streep, who screened her film "The Iron Lady" in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday (November 29) was named Best Actress for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher.
