US Black Friday shopping turns violent

The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year with people across the US hitting the shops to snap up deals on Black Friday.
But the holiday shopping season was marred by incidents of violence reported in some stores across the country.
One man was shot by robbers in a parking lot outside a Walmart store in California.
In Myrtle Beach, South Carolina two men tried to steal from shoppers in the early morning.
One woman was shot in the leg and a man hit on the head.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) UNIDENTIFIED WITNESS SAYING :
"We heard some gunshots, what sounded like gunshots at least, about five of them, first we thought of firecrackers till we saw people running and we came over and we saw some guys laying on the ground."
At a Walmart in Rome, New York, a woman was trampled in the scramble to get to the deals.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) ROME RESIDENT ELISA REID SAYING :
"Stay on the perimeter because, there, you could see people like diving over, terrifying."
One man said his mother was pushed over.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) ROME RESIDENT TERRY ADDISON SAYING : (PART OF SOUNDBITE OVERLAID WITH VIDEO OF SHOPPERS WITH CARTS AND WALMART SIGN)
"My mom was in line for the phones, I knew something was gonna go down, cause there was hectic there all night, my ma's old you know, I was around her because I knew what was going to happen. Next thing you know, they cut the thing and there's 200 people on top of my mom, got everyone off of her and all over a $30 cellphone---it's not worth it."
