U2 opens Toronto Film Fest with new documentary.

The opening of this year's Toronto International Film Festival was all about the music .....as rock icons U2 premiered their documentary 'From the Sky Down'.
The film, made by director Davis Guggenheim, charts the struggles the Irish super-group had while making their 1991 album 'Achtung Baby"
It is the first documentary to open the festival in its 36-year history.
SOUNDBITE, Bono, U2 lead singer, saying (English):
"I think it shows that the festival still isn't ready to be all commercial, that they would put on this night a documentary film about an obscure album from a hopefully not so obscure band."
Achtung Baby was seen as a daring reinvention of the band after the huge success of 'The Joshua Tree' and the somewhat less well-received 'Rattle and Hum'.

"I'm amazed at what Davis has been able to gather from his forensic approach to our work. But I don't think really it's a film about our band in as much as it's a film about the creative process. If you're interested in that, you're going to be interested in this film I think, but I find it excruciating."
This film will be one of 268 features screened at the festival throughout 11 days.
Attendees will watch a group of films that might turn into Oscar contenders following on the footsteps of "The King's Speech," which won the festival's top prize last year.
