Should politicians head sports bodies?

Former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar had hoped to realise a long-time ambition of becoming the Mumbai Cricket Association president. But up against the might of Vilasrao Deshmukh and Sharad Pawar, he was unable to break the 30-year-long stranglehold that politicians have held on the MCA, leading many former cricketers to speak out against power-hungry politicians controlling sports bodies.
