There are accusations that the new Jiaozhou Bridge in southern China is not safe. According to a report from the state-run Xinhua News Agency, there were missing bolts as well as barriers and lights that were not in place.

It's the longest bridge in the world, stretching 26.3 miles, linking the city of Qingdao to a suburb called Huangdao... over the Jiaozhou Bay.

Construction workers tell state-run CCTV that construction was rushed so the bridge would be open by July 1st, the anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party.

Despite the news... officials say the bridge is safe to drive.
