A German court has lifted a general ban on pre-implantation genetic diagnosis, or embryo screening. The method is used to screen human embryos grown in the lab for genetic disorders prior to implantation.The Federal Court in Leipzig has ordered fresh legislation to clear up gray areas surrounding the procedure. Many conservative politicians want to keep a general ban, saying the procedure is like playing God.
