Angelina Jolie urges people to remember refugees

UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie is urging people around the world to remember the pleas of refugees on World Refugee Day, June 20.

The actress said: "Having a home, a place where we belong, a place where we feel safe is something most of us take for granted. Yet those who flee from conflict and persecution no longer have their homes and it will be years before they can return."

Jolie has worked with the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) since 2001 and has released a video plea on their behalf.

In the video she added: "Please remember the millions of people around the world forced from their homes whose only hope of return is not to be forgotten."

The mum-of-six has visited refugees in more than 20 countries including Afghanistan, Bosnia, Haiti and Iraq. After a trip to Chad and Sudan in 2007 Jolie and her partner Brad Pitt donated one million dollars to help aid agencies in the area.
