Brazilian fans drink free when Argentina concede

Brazilian football fans in Rio de Janeiro have found another reason to cheer against their arch-rivals Argentina: free beer.

During Argentina's first World Cup match on Saturday (June 12), a sports bar launched a promotion in which all the customers are given a free draft beer whenever the Argentine squad gets scored on.

Under the slogan I don't cry for you, Argentina, in a reference to the famous song from the musical Evita, the bar caught the attention of several soccer-mad fans.

Even though the team clinched a 1-0 win over Nigeria, bar owner Adailson Cascardo said the round on the house would be available during all Argentina's World Cup matches.

Businessman Eduardo Rodrigues said he hoped to drink many free draft beers during the month-long tournament.

"The promotion will continue being a success and we are still going to drink a lot of free beer because Argentina will suffer many goals," he said.
