Any hopes the Scot has of righting that loss must be slim as he heads into a baptism of fire against the Cup holders in his debut bow at home. After comfortably disposing of Preston’s fellow Championship side Watford 5-0 in the previous round, Chelsea will be confident of further progression in the competition as they head north to Deepdale this weekend. Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti is unable to field a full strength side given the absence of the likes of Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and John Obi Mikel and will take another opportunity to rotate his squad, but Chelsea’s strength in depth means Preston are still faced with an equally daunting task. Ancelotti has expressed an early desire to win the FA Cup, and a win on Saturday would see the Italian remain on course for a league and couple double in his first season in England.
