One of Donald Trump's attorneys, Susan Necheles, attempted to get advance approval from Judge Juan Merchan for Trump to post certain news articles on his Truth Social account without violating his gag order. The judge denied the request, stating that there was no ambiguity in the order and advising Trump to "steer clear" if in doubt. Last week, Trump's lawyer, Todd Blanche, unsuccessfully argued that Trump's online reposts of news articles did not violate a gag order, leading to a reprimand from Judge Merchan. Trump faces a $1,000 fine for each violation, with potential jail time if he continues to violate the order.
