The purple-striped jellyfish

Relax. Enjoy. Repeat.

The purple-striped jelly (Chrysaora colorata) makes the waters of central and southern California home. These creatures are still quite mysterious to us, but we're learning things about them all the time. The bell, the body, can grow to more than two feet in diameter. Usually, you'll see them with those long dark arms and four of the big frilly arms. At least one 15-footer has been seen in the wild.
