Shamek Farrah - album First impression 1974

  • 6 mesi fa
Solo debut on Strata-East American alto saxophonist Shamek Farrah from New York with the album "First impression" a spiritual-jazz masterpiece. According to some biographic write-ups Farrah played live jazz (Latin strains) since the 1960s, but his name doesn't feature in any high-profile ensembles or recordings up until his debut album in 1974. Tight post bop deconstructed with progressively noiser walking bass lines, outburts of thunderous piano, wamping and increasingly erratic sax and trumpet lines, extended melodic lines, bouncy congas, Bolero-like theme being pulled apart into motivic shards and into vortex of atonal improvisation of the piano.
