Backwards Driving Truck On An US Highway

For Europeans seeing this just doesn't make any sense. A backwards driving truck, is the driver a stunt driver or something? Even worse, imagine you're the passenger princess waking up from a little nap, you're opening your eyes and you see this!!! Thinking a truck is coming straight towards you?

The US and German highway systems differ in several key aspects, including speed limits, lane discipline, and infrastructure design. In the US, maximum speed limits vary from state to state, with some states having unrestricted stretches of highway. Germany's Autobahn, on the other hand, is renowned for its lack of a general speed limit, allowing drivers to travel at their own discretion.

Lane discipline is another area of distinction. American highways often experience congestion due to drivers lingering in the left lane, even when not actively passing. In Germany, the left lane is strictly for overtaking, with drivers promptly moving back to the right once they've completed their maneuver. This adherence to lane rules contributes to the Autobahn's smoother traffic flow.

Infrastructure design also plays a role in the differences between the two systems. US highways tend to prioritize directness, with fewer curves and bends. German highways, in contrast, are more intricately designed, with sharper turns and more frequent exits. This design philosophy aims to reduce driver fatigue and promote alertness, contributing to safer driving conditions.
