People drink lemon water in the morning as a refreshing pick-me-up because they’ve heard it can give you more energy and speed up your metabolism.

Lemon water is often served at restaurants, and some people drink it in the morning instead of coffee or tea. There’s no doubt that lemons are great for giving food and drinks a citrusy taste, but does adding lemon juice to your water do anything good?

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, and lemons have a lot of it. In fact, one squeezed lemon gives a person about 21% of their daily value of vitamin C. (DV).

Lemons are full of flavonoids, just like other citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and limes. These are substances that help the body stay healthy and fight off illness.
