Surah Al Baqarah was revealed in the city of Madina so it is called “Madani” Surat.
Surah Al Baqarah protects from the attack of Shaytaan. It is said by Holy Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) that the person who develops a habit of reciting the four starting verses of Surah al Baqarah along with Ayatul Kursi and Surah Baqarah last 2 ayat will get his life, belongings or assets and family protected will remain sheltered from Shaytaan and will not become among those who forget Allah.
