Marvel's 'Thor: The Dark World' continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's 'Thor' and 'Marvel's The Avengers', Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. 'Thor: The Dark World' is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Thor und Loki kehren in ihre Heimat Asgard zurück, wo Göttervater Odin darüber entscheidet, wie mit dem adoptierten Prinzen verfahren werden soll. Währenddessen erhebt sich eine andere Macht in einem der 9 Realms. Der Dunkelelf Malekith scharrt eine Armee uralter Wesen und Monster um sich, mit denen er nicht nur Asgard, sondern den ganzen Kosmos bedroht. Der Donnergott trifft in Thor 2: The Dark Kingdom auf seine Angebetete Jane, die von einem Dämon besessen ist, dessen Verbingung mit den Dunkelelfen sehr nahe liegt. Thor muss also nicht nur seine Menschenfreundin retten, sondern auch eine eigene Streitkraft zusammenstellen, mit der er Malekith besiegen kann. Dafür muss er in die düstersten Ecken Asgards vordringen, wobei ihm jedoch nur eine Person helfen kann: Loki.
