A big-screen adaptation of Perry’s hit stage play of the same title, WHY DID I GET MARRIED? is an intimate story about the difficulty of maintaining a solid love relationship in modern times. During a trip to the picturesque snowcapped mountains of Colorado, eight married college friends have gathered for their annual seven-day reunion. Die Psychologin Dr. Patricia Agnew hat einen Bestseller geschrieben, der auf einem Selbsttest basiert: Jedes Jahr fährt sie mit ihrem Mann und drei befreundeten Ehepaaren eine Woche in den Urlaub, um gezielt zu hinterfragen, warum man verheiratet ist und bleibt. Doch der diesjährige Ausflug steht unter einem schlechten Stern: Patricias und Gavins Ehe befindet sich im Leerlauf und Terry glaubt, dass seiner Frau Dianne ihr Job wichtiger ist als er. Die aufstrebende Geschäftsfrau Angela macht sich hingegen bereits offenkundig über ihren erfolglosen Mann Marcus lustig. Und auch die Ehe von Mike und Sheila ist nicht perfekt, da Mike sich immer öfter über die Marotten seiner überreligiöse und übergewichtigen Frau beschwert. Es wird sich zeigen, welche Ehe den Ausflug überstehen wird.
