Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey has been caught showing off some impressive dance moves during his initiation in Ghana.

The 21-year-old has been called up to the international squad for the first time since he opted to represent his parents' country.

Players selected for Ghana for the first time traditionally go through an initiation as a way of being welcomed into the squad.

In a video broadcast live on striker Daniel-Kofi Kyereh's Instagram, Lamptey can be seen first standing from his chair in a circle around an open space.

The right back begins to walk slowly to a chorus of applause, before adjusting the routine for himself and showing off some unique moves as his teammates burst into laughter.

He seems to get more involved in the performance as he progresses, walking backwards before laughing himself.

More laughter can be heard as he starts jumping up and down, before sitting back down to a round of applause.

The London-born right back played from Under 18 to Under 21 level for England but recently changed his international alliance.

Ghana have also attracted Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu and Athletic Bilbao striker Inaki Williams.

A statement from Ghana FA president Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku said: 'Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams, Mohammed Salisu, Stephan Ambrosius, Patrick Pfeffer and Ransford Yeboah [are] available for the national team.

"We have always maintained that we will not limit ourselves to a small group of players, but will seek out the best talent from around the world who are ready to sacrifice themselves for the nation and take us to the next level."
