Judges visit communities to deepen understanding

Two dozen judges have ditched their robes and headed bush to learn about Aboriginal culture and how it can be factored into the court system. Indigenous people are often disadvantaged by language differences and cultural protocols not being considered and there's evidence it's led to miscarriages of justice. In rare public comments, senior judges have told the ABC there's been progress but there's still a long way to go to even the playing field.
