Texas: 42 Suspected Migrants’ Found Dead In The Back Of A Truck In San Antonio, U.S.

A gruesome discovery in Texas has re-ignited the migrant policy debate in the U.S. An abandoned trailer truck has been found with suspected smuggled migrants of which 42 are said to have died due to heat and suffocation. The truck was discovered in Texas’ San Antonio on June 27 evening. 16 others, including four minors, on the scene were transported to hospitals, local authorities said. There was no indication that the group had had access to water, and the cooling unit in the truck’s box was off. Marcelo Ebrard, Mexico’s foreign minister, said in a tweeted statement that the victims had reportedly suffocated in the trailer. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was weaponising the tragedy to score political points as he tried to pin the blame of the deaths on Democrat President Joe Biden. “These deaths are on Biden,” he tweeted.
