Kerala starts culling to contain bird flu

In the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, another acute problem appears to have left several states baffled as thousands of birds died due to bird flu in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Himachal Pradesh. Kerala is on high alert after the outbreak of bird flu which was confirmed in parts of Kottayam and Alappuzha districts. Animal Husbandry Department has started the culling of ducks in the Kottayam district, in order to contain the virus. The process will be completed within two days. Kerala government has declared bird flu as a state-specific disaster.
