HOME ALONE 3 - Awfully Good Movies

Christmas time is almost here, and while the year 2020 has put a damper on our happiness and cheer, it won't stop Awfully Good Movies from celebrating the 30th anniversary of a beloved holiday favorite by ripping into another one of its less beloved sequels: HOME ALONE 3!

With the now-teenage Macaulay Culkin having taken a break from acting, and writer John Hughes about to take an indefinite break from screenwriting, Hughes' final instalment is about as lackluster as you'd expect from a Culkin-less HOME ALONE that doesn't even take place at Christmas, with a less charming new kid (Alex D. Linz) staying at home with the chicken pox and fending off a gang of spies from stealing his RC car that happens to contain a top secret microchip. And while plenty of traps will again be sprung on these bad guys, they're just as leaden and unfunny as you would expect from the director who'd go on to give us the live-action SMURFS and SCOOBY-DOO movies. On the plus side, though, the kid's sister is a pre-stardom Scarlett Johansson...who hardly does a damn thing in this movie and not even once goes to Budapest. Soooo...Merry Christmas, you filthy animals?
