Orphan puppy given instant relief from pain after sharp foxtail removed from eye at Mexican shelter

This was the moment a three-month-old puppy was given an instant relief from pain during a procedure to remove a razor-sharp piece of foxtail grass from her eye.

Footage shows the pooch on a vet's table being subdued while the owner of the shelter removes the sharp piece of grass from the pup's eye, which instantly gives the adorable animal a sense of relief and happiness as it wags its tail in excitement.

The dog named "Saturday" arrived at the Los Adoptables shelter in Punta Banda with her six other siblings - who are all named after days of the week.

The owner of the Shelter explained to Newsflare that Saturday was incredibly mellow when she arrived and suspected an eye infection but medication didn't help.

They said: "We got a litter of puppies and we thought one of them had an eye infection, after a couple of days on meds it was not getting better, we took a closer look and found the culprit."

The shelter provides temporary accommodation to animals before they can be eligible for adoption.

Before transitioning to be eligible adoption, they go through a quarantine period where they are given medical examinations and treatment.

The shelter is funded from donations by the general public.
