Historic fishing community in Ghana demolished for new harbour project funded by China

Large sections of the historic Jamestown district of Ghana’s capital Accra were demolished in late May 2020 to make way for a new fishing port construction project funded by China. Some people who live in the historic port area said they were given little advance notice before the demolition work, and worry about whether the project will help local people.
