Singapore uses convention centre as hospital for coronavirus patients as cases surge

The Singapore government has converted the Changi Exhibition Centre into a makeshift hospital to make room for Covid-19 patients. The first cases were mainly migrant workers from Bangladesh and India, who arrived at the centre on April 25, 2020. Foreign workers account for almost 88 per cent of Singapore’s Covid-19 cases. Some of them have been kept in isolated buildings in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
