India finally managed to win a home game vs Australia in the 5th attempt as they beat the visitors by 36 runs to level the series with one match left to play. Riding on fifties from Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, the Indian bowlers then put an inspired bowling performance to drown the visitors in a mountain of runs. Earlier, Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and chose to field first in what was expected to be a run-fest on the flat looking Rajkot surface.

भारत की तरफ से इस मैच के सबसे बड़े हीरो कुलदीप यादव रहे. जिन्होंने मौके पर आकर दो विकेट एक ही ओवर में निकाल लिए. पहले एलेक्स कैरी को आउट किया. और इसके बाद उन्होंने स्टीव स्मिथ को भी चलता किया. स्मिथ का आउट होना, मैच का सबसे बड़ा टर्निंग पॉइंट रहा. और कुलदीप यादव उनका विकेट न लेते तो कहानी कुछ और होती. मैच के दूसरे हीरो केएल राहुल रहे, जिन्होंने 52 गेंदों पर ही 80 रन ठोक डाले. इस दौरान राहुल ने शानदार बल्लेबाजी करते हुए छह चौके और तीन छक्के भी लगाए. केएल राहुल की इस ताबड़तोड़ पारी की बदौलत ही टीम इंडिया 340 के स्कोर तक जा सकी.
