Youtubers in India arrested for spooking passersby with ghost pranks

Seven Youtubers were arrested in Bangalore, India on Monday (November 11) for playing ghost pranks on passersby and motorists.

The men would put on spooky make-up and clothes and chase unsuspecting motorists and passersby. One video shows them targeting a homeless person sleeping on the pavement.

Acting on the complaints of residents, police arrested them and seized several videos of their pranks from their phones and laptops.

The accused have been identified as Shawn Mallik, 20, Naveed, 20, Sajeel Mohammed, 21, Mohammed Aqyub, 20, Sakeeb, 20, Sayed Nabil, 20, and Usaf Ahamed, 22.

The accused, who are studying in different colleges, have been released on bail.

A senior police official Shashi Kumar said: “They would forcefully stop and threaten passersby. They wanted to increase their views and number of subscribers on YouTube to make more money.”

Yeshwantpur police have registered a case and are investigating.
