Dad, son killed by burglars in Malabon

MANILA – A man and his son were found dead inside their room on Wednesday morning following an alleged burglary. Felizardo Coralde and his son Albert were found with their necks slashed inside their room at the second floor of their house in Barangay Ibaba, Malabon City. Cathy Coralde, Felizardo's daughter, said she was awakened by a strange noise before dawn but decided to ignore it, thinking that the two were just having an argument. She then discovered that the victims were killed when she checked on their room, which was in complete disarray, at around 5 a.m. Police investigators said an undetermined number of burglars barged into the house and took off with the victims' laptop, cellphone and several pieces of jewelry. They said Felizardo, 46; and Albert, 20, may have been awakened by the noise created by the burglars, resulting in the killing. Investigators said the house could have become a target of the burglars because Felizardo's mother, 83-year-old Socorro Coralde, recently arrived from the United States. – report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
