Thousands of yellow vest protesters clashed with police forces in Lyon, France on May 11 during the national appeal of ACT XVI.

The massive crowd march down a street wearing their trademark yellow vests carrying brightly coloured flags and ringing loud bells.

The activists start a raucous chant as the police become agitated and then they begin firing projectiles into the crowd.

Several police officers and protesters were reported to have been injured.

The footage is shot from behind the police line and there are good images of policemen firing smoking projectiles into the crowd.

The filmer captures 'return fire' from the crowd which sounds like bottles and rocks as a smashing noise can be picked out.
