A musical and historical look at the greatest maritime disaster in United States history. Narrated by Bill Gorman and told through historical vignettes and songs written by Jeff Stachyra, this TV special details the demise of The Sultana, a steam-powered riverboat. Over 1,600 passengers perished when The Sultana exploded and burned on the Mississippi River just north of Memphis on April 27th, 1865. What caused the explosion is still debatable.
