Love Story's Race To Beat Death

Tweed and her boyfriend, Dave, had built a beautiful life together in Milford, CT. They had plans to get married but then their world changed forever. Dave was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and after several months of treatment, Dave had to move into a rehab center. Dave and Tweed decided to get married in that rehab center but only three days later, Dave unexpectedly passed away.

Dave was a big, fun loving guy beloved by all who knew him. He played drums, rode a motorcycle, and even dressed up as Santa at local community events during Christmas time. By chance, Joy and Judy happened to meet him while hosting a local TV holiday show so they have a personal connection to Tweed’s story. “Joy and I were blessed with meeting Dave a couple of years ago,” Judy recalled. “Dave was the Santa on the show that day. We took beautiful pictures and we will remember him forever.”

Tweed’s friend Hilary contacted Joy and Judy and suggested that their special combination of great food, positive energy and an understanding of the importance of a little love and support from friends and family was something Tweed desperately needed. Hilary recalled how Tweed lit up when she met Dave. “It was special. He had a big heart, a big personality, and it was so clear that he loved Tweed,” he remembered. “For those of us who loved Tweed, it was about time and it made us all happy.”

In this episode, Joy and Judy prepare one of their family favorites, Chicken Sorrento, and then head over to Tweed’s house to share the meal and have a thoughtful discussion about overcoming hardships by citing their personal struggles and how they overcame them. Tweed shares the difficult journey she’s faced over the last few months and unveils the special way she keeps Dave close to her heart while she moves forward with her life.

Home cooking and positive energy is a powerful way to cope with a traumatic event. Joy and Judy’s love and sharing shined some warm light on a dark time for Tweed, and with Hilary’s friendship, better days are ahead.
