Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal to resign

Parkash Singh Badal, the grand old man of Indian politics, could tender his resignation as Punjab chief minister on July 27 at the Panthic Convention called by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (SGPC) in Amritsar, after he failed to stop Congress-led Haryana government's move to launch a separate Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (HSGPC).
In last ditch attempts to prevent any splintering of management in Sikh shrines, Badal Sr had met PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, even skipping the presentation of his own state government's budget last week.
