Thane building collapse: 40 dead, over 60 injured

As many as 40 people have died and over 60 others injured when an under-construction building in Thane collapsing partially on Thursday evening. Sources say that many more are feared buried under the debris and rescue operations are still underway. Preliminary reports indicate that the seven-storeyed building was unauthorised and inferior quality materials were being used for its construction. Also civic authorities claim that building existed on forest land and was occupied at least up to the fourth floor.
