Bibi Jagir Kaur gets bail - NewsX

Even beyond the khaps, it's another sad moment for women's rights and justice. In the bail given to former SGPC chief Bibi Jagir Kaur, Kaur had got a 5 year prison term for abducting her own daughter and forcing an abortion that led to the pregnant woman's death. She's now out after spending just 7 months in jail. The Punjab and Haryana High Court granted bail to Jagir Kaur, on the condition that she would not leave the country without the permission of the high court. The High Court also ordered expediting of hearing of appeals filed by Kaur against her sentence. It also asked for early hearing of the CBI's appeal asking for greater sentence for murder charges.
